Conan Doyle's lost novel hits shops

The Narrative of John Smith was the first novel written by the creator of Sherlock Holmes. Through the figure of John Smith, a 50-year old man confined to his room by an attack of gout, Conan Doyle sets down his thoughts and opinions on a range of subjects including literature, science, religion, war and politics.
